Kopaonik (also known as the Silver Mountain) is the largest mountain massif in Serbia that stretches from the northwest to the southeast with a length of about 75 km, reaching a width of about 40 km in the middle part.
One part of it is a protected zone called the Kopaonik National Park, within which there are a large number of protected natural entities, and the largest ski center in Serbia is located on it.
Its highest peak is Pančićev vrh with 2017 m above sea level. on which is the mausoleum of the famous Serbian naturalist after whom it was named, around which is the base of the Serbian army.
The entire massif got its name from the great mineral wealth that has been exploited on it since the Middle Ages, and its wider area is home to a whole series of cultural and historical monuments from the 12th to the 15th century.
Thanks to the developed tourist center with modern hotels and supporting facilities, Kopaonik is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Serbia.
